Funmi Obi

(Podiatrist)

Funmi graduated from University College London in 2005 obtaining an honours degree in Podiatric Medicine. She later obtained an MSc in Clinical Podiatric Biomechanics from Staffordshire University in 2013. She currently splits her work load between working for Buckinghamshire NHS as a Musculoskeletal Lead Podiatrist working with Orthopaedics and Paediatricians and working privately at the Penn Clinic. Funmi has been based in Hayes Middlesex for over ten years.

Funmi specialises in Clinical Biomechanics which focus on the effects of force on the movement of the human body. It involves detailed analysis of a patients gait, joints, musculature and nervous system. It is very common that through this type of assessment patients will find that their back pain or lower limb pain is actually being caused by the poor functioning of their feet or leg length discrepancy.

Funmi enjoys her work treating sports injuries in semi-professional athletes and those that regularly participate in sport using a variety of treatment methods including bespoke orthotic therapy, stretching and footwear advice. More recently Funmi has almost finished her mentorship and qualification in Steroid Injection Therapy and looks forward to bringing this service to the Penn Clinic very soon. Steroid injection therapy is used to treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis, arthritic forefoot joints and morton’s neuroma’s. Funmi is already competent in the use of local anaesthetic for surgical nail removal and verruca needling.
