Acupuncture

Acupuncture

This has been practiced for over five thousand years in China and is used at the Penn Clinic for most medical conditions.

Common complaints treated by acupuncture include:

  • Stress
  • Panic attacks
  • Insomnia
  • Palpitations
  • Irritable bowel
  • Digestive problems
  • Tinnitus
  • Migraine
  • Back pain
  • Skin conditions

In China along with herbal medicine acupuncture forms a complete system of medicine so whatever your problem please phone and discuss with the reception team or one of the practitioners.

According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s energy - known as qi - moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels beneath the skin. By inserting fine disposable needles into the channels of energy, an acupuncturist can stimulate the body’s own healing response and help restore its natural balance. Patients who have never received acupuncture before are often pleasantly surprised at how little discomfort they experience.

Treatment is usually once a week for a period of a few weeks. This is now a very popular therapy and over three thousand patients a year now receive acupuncture at the Penn clinic.
